The Torch Movement is the means by which CPN mobilises the church to pray for the nation. Like in a relay race where a baton is passed from one athlete to another, CPN provides a prayer guide and coordinates the movement of the prayer ‘Torch’ from one church to another. After one church congregation has completed a week of prayers, they pass on the ‘Torch’ to the next. The ‘Torch’ comprises of a lantern, symbolizing the light of Christ and the Kenyan flag.
Since the launch of the prayer chain in June 2009, over one thousand congregations have prayed for the nation. Currently we have torches in six counties – Nairobi, Kajiado, Kiambu, Muranga, Mombasa and Kilifi. We plan on launching the Meru torch during the 10th anniversary celebrations of CPN on 22nd June 2019 and the Garissa torch later in the year.
